This past week, on Wednesday, Chris was working from home, Meegan was at preschool and Trey was napping. What better opportunity would a mom have to go to Hobby Lobby all by herself!?!? So, I jumped at the chance!
Hobby Lobby is my FAV store and the experience sans kids was heavenly! I actually got to
browse and let the creative juices flow freely without the interruption of Trey trying to commit suicide from atop the handle of the cart. Or Meegan needing to use the potty at the most inconvenient time. (ie it's finally my turn in line at the cutting counter after waiting 15 minutes) I was able to purchase a few great finds and then I was on my way. I even grabbed a jalapeno chicken sandwich from Carls Jr. across the street. mmmmm, Another fav of mine...
I'm then driving in my car (only taking bites of my sandwich at red lights because I'm good like that) and I am approaching Guadalupe where the light is red and the little beat up Toyota pickup that is in front of me is stopped WELL before the light. Hmm, that's strange. Then the light is green. He's not going. Still not going. Guess he stalled or something. Nope, he's good, he starts to go. Whoa, dude, pay attentention to the road, you're kinda swerving! Um, he's swerving again! And again. Aw, crap,
dude is drunk!!! I call 911, tell the dispatcher I'm following a drunk driver, we're approaching a
school zone. Nice. It's 2 in the afternoon! I follow him into a subdivision. There's a school bus
unloading kids.
Please stop, please stop, please stop. Ok, he stopped. I'm still on the phone with 911. They're sending officers. The school bus pulls off and I continue to follow. He pulls into a driveway so I flip around. A squad car is approaching. I roll down my window and tell him where to go. Then I head home.
I get home and tell Chris what just happened and my cell phone rings. It's an officer from Gilbert police. They want me to come back to the residence and ID the man I was following because I am the only witness of him actually driving the car. But I'm not sure I CAN ID him. I never saw him. I kinda saw his profile, but I didn't stay beside him long enough because I was afraid he'd run me off the road. I head back to the house, nervous. The officers have him in the driveway and I just roll by. I really can't tell. But that's
definitely the truck. I spend a few minutes talking to the officer and he's hoping that despite me not being able to ID him, they can still charge him.
I'm hoping they can charge him! He was
driving drunk through school zones and behind school buses!! I really wish I knew the outcome. Maybe they'll have me come testify and I can bring this post :)
