Haloween 2009

This Halloween was crrrrrazy! For starters, I was in charge of the ward Carnival/Trunk-or-Treat the night before. We had bought almost 550 hotdogs and they were all gone (if that gives you an idea of the turn out!) But everything went well and I had a lot of help that I really appreciated!!

On Halloween day I spent most of the day cleaning since I had left a lot undone during to week due to planning the previously mentioned craziness...That evening we had invites to 3 different places but were only able to make short appearances to 2, then it was off to trick-or-treat. Since the kids already had a bunch of candy from the previous night, we cut it pretty short. Trey was being pretty uncooperative too, so that didn't help.

Of course, I think my kids were absolutely darling! Meegan was a queen (and NOT a princess as she would tell you). And Trey was a samurai. He did not like it one bit. Oh, well.

Sometimes I wish "The holidays" were spread out a little bit more so that packing up my Halloween decorations, just to turn around and unpack my Christmas decorations wasn't such a pain.

30 years, and all is well

My 30th birthday was on October 21. However, on October 16th I was duped and Chris threw me the most amazing surprise party! (pictures to come...my friend who took all the pics just had a baby this week, I'll let it go ;)) So, here's how it all went down. The week before the party a friend of mine told me that her mother wanted me to start making aprons for the home boutiques she does.. So, she invited me to check one out to see if I was interested. We roll up to her mom's house, go in the back/kitchen door and I am completely confused for a good 10 seconds. A row of people wearing all black and crazy masks welcomes me and they are singing something weird. Then I start to recognize the people behind the masks and also the song; a somber version of "Happy Birthday, to you". My friend, Kelly grabs me and dresses me in angel wings and halo and I start looking for Chris. I find him and he leads me to my tombstone birthday cake. So, obviously it was a funeral themed birthday party and it was AMAZING! All my close friends and some family members were there. And they got me. Big time!

So, knowing for a long time that this "big day" was coming I've had a lot of time to reflect on my life in these past 3 decades. And I really have to say, "All is well". I have been truely blessed with amazing family and friends. Health. Children. The list is long, so I will spare you. But honestly, I've had it pretty good (minus a few years of challenges that I brought upon myself and am lucky to have found my way out of...but wouldn't change either). I can't help but count my blessings, give thanks to a merciful and loving Heavenly Father and also to so many beautiful people that have crossed my path. Here, at 30, I am happy. No, joyous!

Squeegee and a dustpan

I've been able to share this trick with a few friends, but only after it was too late! So I thought I'd share....If ever you have a gooey liquid mess on hard flooring (something thicker than water) grab the squeegee out of your shower and scoop the mess into a dustpan. This trick will even help with pukies (that's what we call it) on the carpet. Meegan dropped an egg on the floor today so I was able to use this trick and was reminded to share! Hope it comes in handy for you someday.

I LOVE Fall!!

What's not to love?!? The weather is amazing. The holidays are on the horizon. And we get to make amazing recipes like this. Chocolate and pumpkin is one of my all-time fav's!!

We have been outside literally every day this week. My kids come home absolutely filthy, but they absolutley love it. I'll take the filthiness if it means getting outside in the awesome weather!!

Here's a few things we have to look forward to in the upcoming months...

A friend's 30th b-day
A friend's baby deing due
MY 30th b-day
A huge Halloween bash that I am in charge of
My sister's baby shower
Trey's 2nd b-day
Our 7th anniversary (which includes seeing Phantom!)
New Moon release!
Thanksgiving
My sister's baby being due
Christmas

Crazy, huh? But I LOVE it!!

Well, THAT was an adventure!

This past week, on Wednesday, Chris was working from home, Meegan was at preschool and Trey was napping. What better opportunity would a mom have to go to Hobby Lobby all by herself!?!? So, I jumped at the chance!

Hobby Lobby is my FAV store and the experience sans kids was heavenly! I actually got to browse and let the creative juices flow freely without the interruption of Trey trying to commit suicide from atop the handle of the cart. Or Meegan needing to use the potty at the most inconvenient time. (ie it's finally my turn in line at the cutting counter after waiting 15 minutes) I was able to purchase a few great finds and then I was on my way. I even grabbed a jalapeno chicken sandwich from Carls Jr. across the street. mmmmm, Another fav of mine...

I'm then driving in my car (only taking bites of my sandwich at red lights because I'm good like that) and I am approaching Guadalupe where the light is red and the little beat up Toyota pickup that is in front of me is stopped WELL before the light. Hmm, that's strange. Then the light is green. He's not going. Still not going. Guess he stalled or something. Nope, he's good, he starts to go. Whoa, dude, pay attentention to the road, you're kinda swerving! Um, he's swerving again! And again. Aw, crap, dude is drunk!!! I call 911, tell the dispatcher I'm following a drunk driver, we're approaching a school zone. Nice. It's 2 in the afternoon! I follow him into a subdivision. There's a school bus unloading kids. Please stop, please stop, please stop. Ok, he stopped. I'm still on the phone with 911. They're sending officers. The school bus pulls off and I continue to follow. He pulls into a driveway so I flip around. A squad car is approaching. I roll down my window and tell him where to go. Then I head home.

I get home and tell Chris what just happened and my cell phone rings. It's an officer from Gilbert police. They want me to come back to the residence and ID the man I was following because I am the only witness of him actually driving the car. But I'm not sure I CAN ID him. I never saw him. I kinda saw his profile, but I didn't stay beside him long enough because I was afraid he'd run me off the road. I head back to the house, nervous. The officers have him in the driveway and I just roll by. I really can't tell. But that's definitely the truck. I spend a few minutes talking to the officer and he's hoping that despite me not being able to ID him, they can still charge him. I'm hoping they can charge him! He was driving drunk through school zones and behind school buses!! I really wish I knew the outcome. Maybe they'll have me come testify and I can bring this post :)

Scrapping

I've been feeling the overwhelming need to catch up on my scrapbooking lately!! Trey is almost 2 and I had yet to start his. Meegan's only caught up to 2 years old. So, I have been trying to get at least one page done every night after the kids go to bed. ...here's a few that I have finished lately.
